Explore Highlands Ranch

Although Highlands Ranch, a 22,000-acre master-planned community, formally began in 1981, its land is rich in history. Located 12 miles south of Denver in Douglas County, Highlands Ranch offers a wonderful quality of life, opportunities for an active lifestyle, great schools, restaurants and shopping. The extensive growth it has experienced in it’s nearly 35 years of existence, is proof that Highlands Ranch is now more than just a “bedroom community” of Denver. With six great high schools, four recreation centers, sixteen parks, two 18-hole golf courses, high-quality medical care and close proximity to Denver as well as the mountains, Highlands Ranch is a wonderful place to call home.

BackCountry, Colorado’s premier gated, luxury home community, was recently awarded New Home Community of the Year by the Home Builders Association of Metro Denver. Touting a range of homes both semi and fully custom that suit a variety of budgets and styles, parks and spectacular amenities, BackCountry is second to none. A network of trails connect the homes to the parks and the community’s center – the Sundial House. Continue on the trails a bit further and you’ll find yourself among the remaining 8200-acre BackCountry Wilderness Area. Their unique commitment to preserving outdoor space and enabling its residents to maintain a recreational lifestyle and a connection to nature is refreshing. BackCountry is truly “Wild at Heart”.

Business Feature: Pierre Michel French Bakery

One of Highlands Ranch’s best kept secrets is a little cafe called Pierre Michel French Bakery run by the sweetest French family. They have been sharing their delicious croissants, breakfasts and sandwiches since 2008 and pride themselves on quality. Breads and croissants are baked fresh, on-site daily, using the purest ingredients including organic local eggs, organic unbleached whole Colorado flour and real natural butters. Make sure you try the almond croissant and if you can’t get there first thing in the morning, give them a call when they open to put some on “hold”. This little gem alone is worth the trip to Highlands Ranch!!
